Hello to all.
I am working on completing my Nerf Vera and have been wanting to post pictures.
I have been waiting till enough work was done so that you could see decent results.
First thing was finding a Nerf Recon 6.
Ebay and $30.00 later I bought a box of 8 Nerfs with accessories.
I now had my Recon and another Awsome Nerf called the "Firefly".
More on that one in a later project.
Here is the Recon set up I choose.
I wanted to keep her name from the Whedon Verse so I call her VI ( Vie) after Felicia Days character on Buffy.
Plus its the first 2 letters of Vira.
I decided to carve the Nerf Logo into the letters VI for her name.
I know its not screen accurate but hey its a Nerf, it will never be.
This was planned as a Con-Prop and I wasnt worried about repairing the shooting mechanisms if they fail so I sanded off Nerf logos and putty filled all holes.
I plan on glueing it back together after painting.
My biggest project was to make an Ammo clip.
We have a bunch of unused plastic at work so I began getting ideas.
I knew this would have to be a "close enough" build so I didn't want to spend a lot of time on it.
I machined a pocket in the end so the Nerf clip would still be useable.
Unfortunatly this makes the "ammo clip" huge and heavy.
Future plans for a smaller non working clip are brewing.
I machined two pockets to reduce weight and make an place for the ammo.
I used some metal conduit pipe cut at 2 inches for ammo. Painted up like brass they fit right in the top pocket.
I machined a window and pocket into 1/2 thick sheet of plastic to hold the ammo in place.
A fresh paint job, a few studs and here is the end result.
I sanded everything very well with 240 grit and used a couple light coats of primer.
All paint was Rust-Olium brand or Testors model paint.
Im not finished with the final paint and touchups yet.
I also need to make the barrel extension/silencer and the spare ammo for the stock.
Eventually I would love to replace the Nerf barrel with a more grooved block style.
A mock up shot to give you a idea of how she'll look.
I had fun playing around with this project and wish to thank Crix and others here for their inspiration.
Ill post finished picks soon.
