Im trying to get some board participation going so lets try a new thread.Do you have a favorite convention tale? A celebrity you've always wanted to meet or a funny story. Tell them here. It doesn't have to be Firefly related. Pictures are encouraged. I'll start. I am a big Star Trek fan and have attended many ST cons. The "Dover Peace Con" in New Philidelphia, Ohio was an annual Klingon get together that had fans from across the US attend. The guest of honor quite a few years was Robert O'Reiley ( Gowron from TNG ). He was always a very friendly person and would not hesitate to spend time with the fans. Having been a guest a few times he became comfortable with us and he would often tell his escort he was returning to his room only to sneak out and show up at room parties. I remember sitting in the hallway late at night with Gowron and a few friends handing him beers from my cooler laughing and telling jokes. That will always be one of my best memories from Dover Peace Con.

2 words...PATRICK ROTHFUSS. He's a huge Whedon fan and was at CONvergence (Minneapolis, MN) in 2009. That year, I decided to try my hand at doing a couple of panels, so I did 2 Whedony panels. Anyway, PATRICK ROTHFUSS (yes, has to be all caps) did the same one as me! LITTLE OL' ME! Sorry, I totally geeked out. He signed my book about being on the panel with me, then hung out with us in our Serenity-themed party room for an entire evening. He was great. That's me holding Spike and PATRICK ROTHFUSS is at the end of the table. Just for fun, he did a panel by himself, talking about the Name of the Wind, and got punished for buying his own lunch. They give panelists the Cone of Shame. And, because this is a costuming forum, I wore my Kaylee movie coveralls, my Ada Wong from Resident Evil 4, and my Dorothy from Wizard of Oz at that con.

One of my favorite memories was at "Screaming Tiki" Cleveland, or Tiki-Con. Edward James Olmos was there and on Sunday, after the con was over, some friends and I ran into him in the hotel lobby and he remembered us from the con. We stood there and probably talked with hi, for 45 minutes or so. It was really awesome and he is such a great guy. At the end of our conversation, he wanted to get a picture with "the guys". He got a photo with the gals separately. I am wearing the Blue Sun shirt.

Another favorite con memory comes from Tiki-Con as well, only the prior year to Edward Olmos. Not only am I a huge Firefly fan, but I am also a huge Superman nut (attend the annual Superman Celebration in Metropolis, Il every year). Well one of the guests at Tiki-Con 2008 was Margot Kidder, Lois Lane from the Christopher Reeve Superman films. I was at the con dressed as Jayne, and one of my friends and fellow member of these forums Stephanie, was volunteering at the con and happened to be Margot's handler for a while (taking in money for autographs and what not). Stephanie was siting at the table with Margot and I heard them talking and saw Margo mentioning my funny hat to Stephanie who began explaining the Jayne hat to her. I hurried right over to the table and introduced myself to Margo and began explaining Firefly to her. It was a moment I'll never forget. I was so excited right then and there. Here I was, talking about Firefly with Lois Lane! I was in heaven.
