Hi!
I thought it would be interesting to learn how everyone discovered the series/movie.

for me, I watched it on Fox when it was on the air.. Me being a big Buffy and Angle fan and them advertising a Joss Whedon show. that was enough for me to watch.
f0r costuming it.... I was doing a Charity walk for hunger in Chicago at Solider field, where DA BEARS play :) I was in my X-wing costume and one of the star wars members said that I reminded them of Jayne. So I thought I would see if I could put the costume together.. I bought a blue sun shirt, and slapped the rest together with stuff I already had. I wore it to a Con here in Chicago called Cyphan. It was a HUGE hit. I got more reaction from that costume than any of my others. after that I started replaced parts of my Jayne costumes with better ones.

Unfortunately I am not an original Browncoat from the Fox days. I remember seeing ads for it on Fox, but I never watched it. After it was released on DVD, I remember seeing it in stores and my brother pointing out to me that he had heard that it was a fantastic show. So on July 1, 2004, my brother gave it to me as a birthday present. Needless to say, I didn't watch it immediately. My brother and I started watching it that fall. I really liked it. A year later, as September neared and Serenity was about to be released, I started watching it again. Then I went and saw Serenity in the theaters. Nine times. It was around then that I completely fell in love with the 'Verse. I didn't just really like it, I loved it. Now I own eight copies of Firefly on DVD and three copies of Serenity for the purpose of creating new Browncoats. I also own them on Blu-ray. I own a $500. Alliance bill used in the movie Serenity. The license plates on my Jeep read BRWNCOAT and I own an official Browncoat. I also cosplay as Jayne. And I own a bunch more Firefly/Serenity stuff too.

I was hooked before Firefly ever aired. The commercials did it for me. I was turned off by the news that the guy that did Buffy was behind it, but I've learned to like him OK since then. I watched about half of the episodes when they first aired, but wasn't worried because the show was so good, I knew it would be on for years.
And then I remember just about tearing up when the pilot finally aired and was ending. Mal's line hit me in my shriveled little heart. "We're still flyin'. That's enough." If only it were true!
BTW; My license plate is O3K64FF. My girlfriends is KAYLEE, and we're friends with another couple; CAPT MAL and R TAM.

When I was in middle school, I would sneak around my mother's strict television policies to watch Buffy. Then, in high school, I got my sister hooked and we conspired to outwit mom together, even dismantling the wooden box she kept the television extension cords in and putting it back together again before my mom got back from her Bible Study class on Tuesday nights when Buffy aired. When we heard Joss had a new venture, we were right on board.
I fell hard. I was deeply into Buffy, but Firefly hit me at just the right time in my life and I suddenly understood the obsessions I had witnessed among my Trekker, LOTR, and Star Wars-adoring friends.
I began attending conventions, cosplaying, and collecting props through the Propstore of London. I never looked back. I know this is waxing sentimental, but sometimes a piece of culture just strikes you in all the right ways. I have met some fascinating people through the 'verse, and even indoctrinated a few myself.
