Adam Baldwin, Wil Wheaton, George Takei, Peter Mayhew, Lee Meriweather, Lou Ferrigno, Nicholas Brendon... the list goes on! There are some big-name comic book creators scheduled, too. Our little con is getting bigger every year! If you are in the area, come on by! If you're not it the area, get here! April 6th & 7th planetcomicon.wordpress.com/

The story:
The line was HUGE, of course, and when we (my wife, my 6-year old daughter and I) finally met Adam Baldwin he was awesome! He immediately began scrutinizing my costume for accuracy, starting with the knife. He stood up, reached across the table and pulled the knife from the sheath. Adam Baldwin drew my knife! He spent a good 30 seconds inspecting the blade before giving it the Official Adam Baldwin Seal of Approval, saying "That's nice. That's a really good replica". Then he handled the LeMat, which also passed inspection.
My wife told him that our whole family loves Firefly and our daughter had wanted to sing the theme song to him, but was too shy. Adam Baldwin - Jayne Cobb himself - then leaned down, sang the song to her and told her she was beautiful! I said that the only problem with our daughter watching Firefly is that she always wants to watch at least two episodes in a row. He said "Yeah... I wish they'd made more".
We finished up with the photo above. I am 6'3, 235 and you can see that he has a couple inches on me as well as broader shoulders. I never realized how BIG that guy is! Lou Ferrigno was at the next table and there honestlly is not that a big difference between them. Before releasing the handshake, he leaned in and whispered "Dirty them gloves up" in his Jayne drawl.
All of this was with at least 150 people waiting in line behind us. I think he took the extra time with my family because I was wearing my Jayne gear and he honestly appreciated the effort. They say you should never meet your heroes because you will be let down. The Hero of Canton is the exception to that rule.

Awesome pic/story! You def. need to get over to the Jayne section of these boards and post more pics and details of your costume! Like for example, is your blade steel? I keep getting hassled by the "peace-bonders" at the events I attend, even though I've filed the blade.

Very cool. Great story. IU've always wanted to get a replica Jayne knife and make a resin cast of the hilt. I'd feel a little self conscious walking around a con with a real bowie knife on my belt.
