If it helps any, Adam auctioned off the original Cunning hat a while back.

that's good picture on the color. I find a lot with the "ear" parts RED.. it doesn't look red to me.. more of a dark orange

I think the sides are more of a "rust" color than red

It should be remembered that any screencap will be from a set that has warm, colored lighting and have had color correction applied to it in post. So what you see won't be the true coloring.
Also, remember where the hat came from. Someone in production just happened to own it. So it was not originally intended as a TV prop and would have been made using commonly available colors.
Basically I'm just sayin'... Don't over think it.

yeah I dont want to over thinking it, but i still want to find the most accurate ones out there..We had the same problem with a helmet in the star wars costume club I in.. looked white in some.. looks grey in other pictures.. www.etsy.com/listing/63976413/cunning-jayne-hat-with-gift-kit-from-maI got a email from Ma Cobb today. She said she is trying to be as accurate as possible, as it's something that she strive for as well. I like the color here. so I think hers is another one I like alot. here the "ears" look a little short to me.. but in some of the pics she has up where people are wearing it, they dont look as short, but still I think Jaynes is a little longer.. I sent her a email asking about that.

I found another that I think is dead on! the yellow is not that bright yellow, and "red" is not that dark red a lot of people use.. more of a dull red that blends nicely to the orange above it. What do you guys think?

Looks really good, but I think until you have one of the the original two (the woman who made the original made one for the show and one for herself) in your hand to compare the others to, I think you'll always be looking for something better. In some pictures the ear flaps look rust, some they look orange, I don't know. I think MaCobb's is great because you you get a really shiny presentation with it. I would have bought my hat from her if my cousin hadn't made me mine.

That's very cool. She's also the one who confirmed to the Browncoats of NYC the correct orientation of the Browncoat patch.

I believe this is the guy who won the real hat in a auction. he sent me these pictures of it. notice how the colors almost blend into each other.. the "yellow" flows into the "orange" which flows into the "rust" not a dramatic change like you see in a lot of the hats on ebay and etsy also notice the "Brim" (is that what its called? ) the base of the hat... I find a lot of hats without it.. they just run the same all the way to the edge. this one is my favorite appears to be the most accurate I can find made by Heather Hill www.wearwithstyle.com/She does make them, but she has limited there availability. She has been making them for 8 years now and has moved on to other things. So if you ask nicely, she might make you one.
